Who cares about showers, gourmet food, using flush toilets. Just keep on walking and being away from it all.
There are times that the only way you can do something is to do it alone.
I've been wanting this trail for years now,, going in a few weeks,,planning to drive north up Little Shepards Trail for a Teaser, park at Pound Gap, meet Shuttle ($50) for ride back to Southern Highlands Trailhead and hike to Pound gap, then Drive to Birch Knob Observation Deck and Maybe camp a night at the new Black Bear Shelter or maybe stealth The deck itself..
Contact Shad Baker for more info and look at the Website for more details,,I spent a Night here during the '93 Blizzard and fell in love..

Either of you make this trip? I am planning on doing it in two weeks. Would also like to know if anyone might have an idea of how the bugs would be at the end of October... Hoping to leave the bugnet at home.
