It's supposed to be such a pretty weekend I figured I'd try to get out for an overnight. I'm gonna hit the pines near Decatur Saturday afternoon and spend the night out there. If anyone is interested in going, let me know and I'll post details.

I plan to be out there around 2 or so. Depending on if anyone shows, I'll probably leave around 9 or 10 on Sunday. You know where it's at

Me and my girlfriend might come out. We were planning on going out to Dinosaur state valley tomorrow, but if we can get out and about early enough we might head up your way.
Here's a link to everything you need to know.

Sorry to have missed you. Catch ya on the next one perhaps.
I was out there last weekend myself but further north. I hiked a bit of the area around Tadra Point and discovered another pine grove with some prime hanging opportunities. I'll dig up the coordinates later and post 'em.
The North Texas Orienteering meet will be in the area between Black Creek and Tadra point. Seems me and my buddy are now doing the field work out there, and we better be quick as the meet is in like 5 weeks! My orienteering buddy and I course set that area (not Tadra, or The Pines) for a number of years. But nothing like those nice pines to camp in.
SO....I'll be out climbing through those forest soon.

There is a gravel parking area no more than 100 yards from the pines and TH (yellow trail). This does not appear to be a pay area. There are well established sites which can accommodate hangers or ground dwellers. In fact, there was a large group of boy scouts out here that weekend (approx 10 tents) but I was able to move far enough off so that I couldn't even hear them. There's no lake nearby but several stock ponds; which I was surprised still held a considerable amount of water.
Maybe sometime in the near future we can do a group hang out there.
It's a nice area. Black Creek is getting a bit crowded for my taste (there seems to be quite a few people out there if the weather is half way decent). But... It's still a great place to hang.
