    a GRANDE problem!

And by GRANDE I mean the Grand Canyon.

So a friend of mine wants to do a Grand Canyon hiking trip. I have never been there so it sounds appealing to me.

The obvious problem as I see it...............

Where if ANYWHERE will I be able to hang my hammock?????

From what I have been able to gather my only option is going to be sleeping on the ground in a tent......... not so appealing to me anymore...... So I think I may have to try and convince him to hit the Smokies instead!

Has anyone every been hang'n in the Grand Canyon? Are there specific trails or camps that have places to hang? Does anyone have pictures of their setup?

I don't know about trees, but if you get some rock climbing nuts or such, and hang from the rocks. Would want to try this first before hand. Also I have no idea on the rules about doing this.

There are a few tree but I think is against park regulations. The campground at the river has trees. In any case you need a go to ground plan.

Honestly I would be pretty doubtful you would be allowed to do this either.

This should help with some of your question. It's an amazing place but hanging is tricky.

you know..if you've got the cabling/strappage long enough...you could do an ideal 30 degrees hang and still not touch the ground in between the canyon walls.... ..that is, if you're willing to tightrope walk all the way across........... I mean, they've done tight ropes across the Grand Canyon, I can't imagine doing a hammock version isn't that much different.....
