Need help deciding what rope to buy for suspension/tie outs

    Hi.

I have a Warbonnet BB XLC with the standard webbing suspension, and I also have a Hammock Gear standard cuben fiber tarp with doors on order.

Its my impression that I need to buy the rope for tie outs separately?

Also I think I would like to upgrade the suspension on the XLC to something lighter but still easy to use.

This is what I am looking for in terms of suspension:

Frist and formost, something that will not damage trees. Leave no trace.
Secondly, something that is light. The lighter the better.
Thirdly, something that can be set up and adjusted quickly. I will be doing this a lot, so I will get good at it, but I do not want it to take forever.

And for the tarp, I just need to know what to use for tie outs. Do I use rope that has give or is rigid? Do I use line locks? I also need to know how much rope to buy. From the website, it has 4 panel pull outs and 10 perimeter tie outs.
    http://www.hammockgear.com/standard-...rp-with-doors/

Finally, I hate wasting money, so I make sure on my purchase before I buy. That being said I don't mind spending more for top of the line stuff (see the cuben tarp); I can't imagine any suspension or tie outs could be too expensive anyway.

    Thanks for any input!

I have been using the guyline that warbonnet sells. I really like it. I also used some 3/32 shock cord and like it also. its really just a preference. anything and everything will work. shock cord is nice because when you trip on it you wont be as likely to rip your gear. but on windy days it will flex
The path you choose in life. Should lead straight to a Hammock!

    Some more things.

As I said about spending money, I hate wasting it. I'd like my gear to last, so durability is a concern. So is the stealth factor, as is safety.

With those in mind I have been researching Dynaglide and Amsteel. For only a small amount of increased weight and better durability, safety and stealth factor, I am leaning towards the Amsteel.

Still would need to know how much to buy.

By most on this forum, dynaglide is overkill! seriously though, at 1000 pounds your tarp will rip before the DG. You'll be fine with zing it.EDIT: for tarp suspension that is! You'll have to use tree straps for hammock suspension of corse, no matter which one you chose.

Amsteel + 1" polyester webbing tree straps is excellent for the hammock suspension but is overkill for the tarp.

Lash It is a popular choice for tarp.

I recently switched one tarp to Sea-to-Summit 1.8mm reflective cord and use it with cam cleat triangles. It comes in a 30m pack and that was enough for 6 tie-outs, with some left over.

I use Zing-it. The tarp will tear before it breaks. Use it because I had some when I set up my first tarp. No point in changing now.

7/64th Amsteel Blue whoopie slings on a 1" polyester strap with a Marlin spike for hammock suspension. Zing it for adjustable tarp ridge line, and 200 lb test planner board line for tarp tie outs.

So before I spend money on anything, what do you guys think of this system for my hammock suspension:

Tree huggers/webbing made out of some ratchet straps I already had.
    Whoopie slings from whoopieslings.com
And then, and I know most people probably don't do this, but I'd thought of attaching the slings to the hammock using a carabiner (attaching it to the small continuous loop already installed on my BB XLC). I would do this because it would add another protection against drips but also I could disconnect the wet suspension from my dry hammock which would allow me to store my hammock in my pack with the rest of my dry stuff. As an added bonus I could get two colors which would help me distinguish head from foot end.

I am considering these carabiners from REI

Do you think those are strong enough?
