    If you can find them, REI Down Booties are light and really really warm. (Think ArrowHead Flamethrower socks, but with foam soles good enough for quick trips around the hammock.) They are also light and easily pack-able. I use a quarter length pad, and the booties make up the difference well enough. YMMV.

    Incidentally, I tried (once) wearing felt boot liners inside my sleeping bag. I don't remember how cold it was outside, but this was totally inadequate. I was wearing thick wool socks inside the thick felt boot liners. This just didn't get the job done for me -- needed more insulation for my feet.
