    Thermos for coffee

I'm looking for a thermos recommendation, but my wants/priorities are a little different, hoping I can get some recommendations. Mostly would be used for coffee and perhaps soup. Here's what I'm looking for:

    16-20oz of liquid volume
Lighter weight the better (hoping sub-12oz).
I don't care as much about thermal retention, my coffee doesn't need to be still scalding 12 hours later. I drink cold coffee out of the coffee pot all the time, so that's not as big a factor in my decision.
Dimensions, the perfect product would fit in a standard vehicle cup holder, this might not exist.
No plastic, at least on interior touching the liquid, probably 18/8 stainless steel.
SPILL PROOF, even if I tossed it upside down in my pack (I would never actually do this).
Cheaper the better, hoping for sub-$30.
Has to be compatable with my cowboy coffee filter from my MSR:http://www.amazon.com/MSR-Mugmate-Co...rds=msr+coffee

Here's a few I think look interesting, anyone have experience with these and think they would fit my criteria?

    Innate-Gear:
    Kahvah- http://www.innate-gear.com/product-info/kahveh-sleeve
    Cha- http://www.innate-gear.com/product-i...-vacuum-bottle

    HydroFlask- http://www.rei.com/product/850809/hy...fl-oz#specsTab

    REI- http://www.rei.com/product/839815/re...descriptionTab

I'm open to any brand. I like to make my coffee in the morning, drink half of it, then keep the other half in side pocket of my pack to enjoy at stops along the hike, with the last swallow being saved as a reward for making it to camp. Thanks.

get the sippy top and the solid top fr when it's in your pack. It's a real "thermos". vacuum insulated and works well.

The Cha is sold under various names, I have one labeled Thermos. It is OK but the KK is better.
    YMMV

I'm looking for an article I recently read in Field & Stream or Outdoor Life...can't remember magazine. Either way, they had a great shootout between 5 models with one clear "winner". I think it was a Thermos brand that was the heaviest, as expected, and had two tops (cap with cup over that).

I was always unimpressed with the smaller stainless bottles with the push button-popup spout. Good for a few hours and that's it.

Not sure if it meets all your requirements, but this is what I use. Not a thermos per se, but it keeps it warm till I finish it (usually an hour) and does not leak.

I have a couple of these and absolutely love them.

    Thermos-Steel-Vacuumware-16-oz-Food-Jar

They are very well sealed and do an incredible job of retaining heat. They are great for cooking (rice, noodles, etc.) or re-hydrating. Wide mouth makes it very easy to eat out of too.

Both hydroflasks and insulated klean kanteens are very popular. I believe that widemouth klean kanteens use the exact same threading as do nalgene bottles. I am not sure about hydroflask lids though

I saw that one Thumbs, was worried about potential leaking, glad to hear it doesn't. I actually own it's older cousin, http://www.amazon.com/GSI-Outdoors-7...9&keywords=gsi

I used this quite heavily for awhile, loved the low weight and a very functional piece of equipment. Obviously the cap was a problem and I had to ditch hiking with coffee for later after several spills. I just wish it had a narrower and taller version.

I've used a stainless steel bottle. I have a foam cozie that prevents the heat from burning my hand (highly recommended)

If you stow the bottle inside your pack, it does retain a lot of heat. As it cools, it does form a vacuum and the lid can be stubborn to remove. I can use the bottle to boil water (remove lid, since its plastic). Put the filled bottle directly in some coals or on your stove. I also use the warmed bottle to preheat my hammock at night and provide heat all night long. Wrap the bottle in a wool sock for prolonged warmth. So, it is multi-purpose.

Single wall stainless for boiling in, double wall bottles can explode.
I would think the wide mouth styles would fit your coffee filter..?

    Bought!

Thanks everyone, I wound up going with the 16oz insulated Klean Kanteen with loop cap. Bonus, it will fit my vehicle cupholder (I found a cup with similar dimensions to verify).
