While on sleeping bags I found them useful, I can't imagine needing one on a TQ.

With the snap and drawcord mentioned above, a TQ cinches perfectly. Have never even considered adding one due to lack of issue around the neck.

In a few weeks, i will have custom Flight Jacket TQ with a draft collar, I will post pics. My reasoning is that I tend to wrap myself in my blankets at home (and my wife steals them as well) which can create a draft, probably overkill, but I sleep cold and would prefer the extra reassurance.

It certainly won't hurt anything. You'll better understand our thoughts after you try the TQ and see how it cinches over and around your shoulders and tucks in under you.

I added draft stoppers to the TQ's I have made, for me they make a huge difference. I remember when my sleeping bag did not have one, I was frequently cold in it. Then I bought a high end bag, it had a draft collar and a extra gusset over the zipper, heaven, it was heaven no freezing breeze every time I moved.

Now days even really cheap bags have draft collars. I love them, for me. We have so many items to choose from because we are all different in our needs. For me a draft collar is a luxury I do not want to manage without.

I wouldn't buy a cold weather sleeping bag without a draft collar, but TQ's cinch very well around your neck and shoulders with the snap and draw cord to where drafts are almost a non-issue. Wearing a neck gaiter or scarf totally seals out any chance of a draft.

I should be getting the TQ later this week and using it on a trip in 3 weeks. I'll report my experiences. Since it was a custom for the TQ i ordered, for those who think they are superfluous , you don't have to get one. It has been my experience that a sleeping bag, even cinched around my head with my face poking out, still has gaps and a draft collar reduces those drafts. Not sure why the theory would be different with a TQ which you still cinch around you.

I would always want to have a draft collar, just because I shuffle in my sleep
