My diy interpretation of Lynx underquilt

Just finished up on my diy lynx-alike underquilt for my son's Ridgerunner. Sewed up the shell a couple of weekends ago and stuffed it with down reaped from a 16 oz down pillow. I will be test-hanging it under the hammock tomorrow or Friday. It doesn't have all the pleats and darts of a bonafide Lynx but the pre-stuff test hang of the shell fit the hammock well. This is my second underquilt. I've made several gathered-end hammocks my family uses all the time (some double layer some single). I've made one diy rectangular tarp we use with one of our Ridgerunners. I've also made 4 sets of whoopie slings. The underquilt by far is the most challenging diy project for hammocking. I had all the materials from some Walmart $1/yd nylon for all these projects so the material cost was very low. The time and effort put into the underquilts is pretty high. The hardest part being the freaking reaping of the down from the pillow and stuffing it. The next quilt I have will more than likely be purchased.

Just did a test hang in the backyard. It droops a few inches below the hammock while it is unoccupied, but fits like a glove once you get in the hammock. I'll test with my son in it later today to check the fit with 160 pounds in the hammock instead of 205.

If it's of any help, the lynx has heavy rubber bands on the foot end to provide a little give to it's snug fit.

This is a torso length, but the full length has the same bands...

TNHunter, looks swesome. Got everything to do my Lynx copy, can you share the measurements, and what height baffles did you use?
.... the Aardvark (earth pig)... a rather unremarkable creature whose sole claim to fame is that it is the first animal listed in the dictionary.

I totally understand buying vs diying UQs. They can be quite a challenge to make. As big a DIY fan as I am, my next UQ will probably be from underquilts.com. I will just order a shell and stuff it myself.

That's what I did, got the down from eBay pillows, the shell from underquilts.com (fyi other vendors might do this as well if you ask them), did the filling based on calcs on underquilts.com and others.

I had to makeup my own suspension, which was a challenge being it was my first time ever owning an UQ.

But now I have it dialed in and love it.

    FYI +1 on the tags.
