    Will braid stay or unravel?

It's not appropriate for hammock suspensions or structural ridge lines.

It's a whole lot easier and safer to go with Amsteel from any of the vendors here.
Not very expensive either to get just what you need.

It sounds like the stuff I got on ebay and used for tarp tieouts. I sleeved the ends with hollow braid dacron kite line so I could tie bowlines. I found I could use a slippery taut-line hitch to the stake if I was careful. There's no getting around it - it's strong and it's cheap, but it's also very hard to see, so it's easy to trip over. The reason I sleeved the ends is that lines with no stretch like kevlar and spectra will cut themselves if knotted. I think that characteristic would make braiding it dangerous. Don't hang from this line.

It's very useful as a spare line for tie-outs, a clothesline, or maybe a food bag line (if you can figure out how to run it through a biner - otherwise it will cut the tree). It's extremely light and takes up no room in your pack.

How will you connect/adjust, etc. the 5 strand braid? Please use tree straps and connect your hammock suspension to them.

You'll come around to amsteel whoopie slings soon enough.
