I have a spare bedroom with the huge wall-length closets completely filled with gear for my wife and me. The bedroom is also where we lay out our gear when packing for a trip and the attached bathroom is where we hang damp gear before storing it away again.

That's not a good sign, is it?

Ditto on the basement. It's a great place to spread everything out to dry, clean and/or air out once you get back too. The dehumidifier and a fan helps.

No dehumidifiers required in Colorado. The whole dang state is a dehumidifier!

well to me it is a good sign as long as you keep your wife around

Who cares about showers, gourmet food, using flush toilets. Just keep on walking and being away from it all.

I have a spare room that I should be keeping my stuff in, but it would require I find some shelving system and also hang dowels from the ceiling to hang my under quilts from.

So I just throw it all on the couch and floor in the living room.
