Marlin Spike Straps

Not sure what happened to my last post so I will try it again. I thought of a new idea for a Marlin Spike Strap where the toggle comes sealed in the end of the strap. I would love your feedback.

how did it get in there? hollow webbing?

Yes. Hollow webbing. I cut up an old aluminum hiking pole and stuffed it in the end and then melted it shut.

I love that idea. But that looks like tubular nylon webbing which is really stretchy and not so good for hammock suspension.

Yeah, I had this laying around. I used them for my hammock. But I will build the real ones out of hollow polypro or polyester if that will work. I just wanted to put something together to see what everyone thought.

How long do you thing I should make the toggles? 3 inches?

Only problem, difficult to slide out of the MSH when breaking down. If you want to do though, fold end 5 inches of strap on itself, sew long edges very close to edge, voila, pocket for arrow shafts. No hollow tube needed.

That's a great idea Rob. So you use arrow shafts for your toggles? Any concerns with them being to small? Or do they work well for you?

I have tried this, and it works well, but aardvark is correct that it makes it hard to slide out the toggle. One of the things that I like about the msh is being able to slide then out easily. On a side note, the tail of the strap will go through the middle of your loop. That always bugged me a little.
