    Hello From Middle TN

Just introducing myself here. I live in Nashville and am fairly new to camping and recently got my first hammock. I look forward to learning more about hammocks and gear.

Welcome to TN and Hammock hanging from Maryville TN. A great place to go is Virgin Falls East of the Nashville area. Great 4 mile hike and great hang place by the river.

    Thanks,

I have been wanting to try Virgin Falls for a while. I mostly do the quick trip to Longhunter which is a bit of a gem being 15 minutes from Nashville. A buddy and I did Maddron Bald in the Smokies last June, and that was the trip that made me buy the Hennessy. Between the two campsites on that trail, I bet there wasnt 2sqft of level ground...but lots of trees to hang in.

Hi, and welcome from NE AL! I'm in Smyrna, TN at present, and will be for 2 more weeks. Do you hike around here? If so, where?

Welcome to the site from a former Mid Tn person. There is plenty of info here, just don't try to absorb it in one night. If you have any question, just ask. Someone will chime in with what you are looking for.

    prob,

I really like Longhunter State Park in Mt. Juliet. There is also Radnor Lake in Nashville and several others depending on the drive you want to make. Longhunter is the only overnight that I know of though.

When I was growing up, we used to bounce between Cedars of Lebanon, Long Hunter, and Fall Creek Falls.

To be precise, Long Hunter is actually in the city limits of Nashville (mostly), though it is in Nashville on the side sorta toward Mt. Juliet. Sorry to be nit-picky!

    Rain Man,

You are correct, it is 90-95% in Nashville, and the Volunteer Trail/Day Loop is all in Davidson County. It is just a heck of alot easier to tell people that it is in Mt. Juliet for direction purposes. This is all evidenced by the noise from the airport and interstate when camping on the Volunteer trail!
