I have a friend who is thru hiking the AT right now. He bought a Blackbird and standard size OES tarp. He wants to know what size snake skins he should get for his tarp.

I would like to know also. Does anyone have an opinion or info on what snakeskins for a MacCat Dlx?
This is just my opinion - but I really like using a Bishop-Bag with my tarp instead of skins. It packs a little more easily than the skins, yet deploys very quickly. You can wrap one end of the suspension around a tree and leave it hanging there until you are ready to deploy...and since the bag is always on the tarp ridgeline, it takes down quickly as well.
It's really easy to make one, too, by simply making a small hole in the bottom of a regular stuff sack.

i second the bishop bag concept. Silnylon tarps compress so well. I used HH snake skins just for tarp before I made the switch. I got the deal from HH lastyear buy one hammock get a free scout, so I had two sets of skins.
