    Howdy from Colorado

Have been a member of the forum for well over a year, but have never posted before yesterday. Have hiked long distances with a hammock, but recently I was tempted, can I say it, to return to the ground. I confess I even bought a ultralight tent. I know, blasphemy, but I went further...I actually hiked with just a tarp. I was lucky not to have been struck blind, but a few nights of discomfort have brought me back to the light. I just ordered and received a WB Ridgerunner and just tonight I converted a set of hiking poles to use with it. To atone for my misdeeds I have slept this week in my Clark Jungle hammock (temperature 19 degrees) and I plan to hang tomorrow night. I am doing my best to repent, and so I have taken a vow of no tent trekking this year.

Welcome from out of the lurking. And welcome back from the dark side! My daughter is in Colorado Springs. In the Fall she did part of the Four Pass Loop in the Maroon Bells near Aspen. Second day a blizzard hit and they stayed in their tents all day. Wasn't a tree big enough to hang on in sight and boulders were too far apart. Sometimes you have to do what you have to do... it makes you stronger (and sorer)... and more appreciative of your hammock.
