    Sag vs Calf ridge

In general how does sag relate to calf ridge in a WBBB? Does more sag increase or decrease the calf ridge? And conversely doe less gag decrease or increase the ridge? I'm thinking of trying to adjust the ridgeline to eliminate or at least lessen the calf ridge pressure.

Before adjusting ridge line, try changing the angle of the suspension, it will effectively change the ridge line length as witnessed by the slack or tautness of the line.

At the foot end, raise the tree strap up to eye level or above and let a little strap out..that should loosen up the ridge line a fair bit.
    Have sherpas, will travel...

I know how to loosen it by changing the angle/ strap height etc. I just want to know if shortening/tightening the ridgeline is the way to go. Loosening it is easy, as you say, but doesn't make it totally go away. Before I remove the stock ridgeline and start shortening it, I would like to know if it will help or make it worse if it's shorter.

Yeah that would work, but I've tried laying in bridge hammocks and just don't like them.

I don't have an answer but seems like you could try less sag with the existing ridgeline first.

I saw a post recently where they took up excess by wrapping it around a carabiner.

Increasing sag and letting the ridgeline have slack will be the same as shortening the ridgeline and provide the same lay. So you can experiment with the lay a shorter ridgeline would provide without having to actually shorten it. The ridgeline itself, only sets the minimum sag you can get. Not the maximum and that is the only way it effects the lay or feel of the hammock.

Be careful lengthening the ridgeline on a WBBB. You will overstress/tear the bugnet.

I have had an issue with pressure on my calf until I took the advice of hanging the head end of the hammock lower. I now hang with a suspension angle of about 30 degrees with the head end about 6 inches lower then the foot end. There is now no longer any pressure. Try that and see if it helps.

While we're throwing out ideas, make sure you are sleeping with your head closer to the end than you did in the BB.
I typically forget this, then slide into position and notice an improvement with calf ridge pressure.

I've already done all the things that have been suggested. My only question relates to putting a longer ridgeline in and then tweaking it. gmcttr, thanks for reminding me about possibly damaging the bugnet. I won't even try that if anyone positively knows it would tend to increase instead of decrease the pressure when lengthening the line longer than stock.
