Wal-Mart blue CCF pad?? Please explain to this noob (who's first HH has been ordered and is in transit) what the purpose of the CCF pad is in relation to hammock camping.
When the temps drop below 70 degrees the cooler air underneath the hammock will suck the heat away from you resulting in what is known as CBS or Cold Back Syndrome. To prevent it you need some sort of insulation under you such as a CCF pad or UQ. Most times if you try and use a sleeping bag as a sleeping bag, the bottom layer is comressed enough that it offers little if any insulation value. Many hangers (including myself) use their sleeping bags a TQ.
I am still 18 but with 52 years of experience !
Eagels may soar, but Weasels don't get sucked through jet engines!!

Here is what I'm planning on using for a motorcycle trip. Expected low temps- 30+
HH Expedition Asym
Space blanket
Big Agnes inflatable pad- very little air

20 degree bag for TQ
Will that do the job or should I switch the BA for a thermarest or a pad?
Should I bring a fleece blanket for between the hammock and my pad?
Should the spaceblanket go inside the bag like a sheet?
I am a warm sleeper.
