AL/Logan Martin Lake/paddle-hang

We have been wanting to do a canoe/paddle/hammock camp for a while. We hope to eventually paddle/camp the Mound Island Canoe trail above Mobile, Al. in the Tensaw delta. This was an early test prep for that. We loaded up a canoe and shoved off into the wilds of Logan Martin lake.

After a two mile paddle we set up and spent the night. Was really fun with perfect camp weather. Only drawback was yacking geese all night. Had no idea waterfowl were so noisy. Also, the island is really small, so there was only suitable room for two hangers. Another might work, but that would involve messing with the island's decorations. The owners don't care if the public enjoys their private little island, just be respectful and clean up your mess before you leave.

And thanks for the reminder to put the ear plugs back into my first aid kit - you never know when you might need them - though I wouldn't have thought of geese.

Nice hang guys, thanks for posting the video. We did a 3 day float/hang on the Suwanee in Florida a couple of years ago. Y'all might like that. They have river camps for paddlers and hikers only. How are those tarps holding up? We missed y'all at the Sipsey Hang.

The earplugs are now a permanent addition to the packs. The island is rather unique. The owners have really laid in time and money with it. It even has palm trees.

Dale, I will investigate that Suwanee thing. Sounds fun. We learned that marrying camping with the canoe is a fun alternative. It even allows extras you'd not have on a walky hike....like a gas powered Coleman lantern....two whole gallons of water....non-dehydrated food. Sorry we couldn't do the Sipsey trip. Just could not make it. Work. Tarps are doing quite well. Matter of fact, been thinking about procuring another from you for one of my daughters is she needs one and likes hammocking.
