    hammocks for back problems

How many here use their hammock exclusively because its better on your back? It seems the physiology of the curvature of the back is contraindicative to proper posture while sleeping in a hammock. but hey..my back sure feels better when I wake in my hammock the next morning. Whats the deal?

    sure helps my back too...
I'm working on my wife to let me put one in the bedroom for full time use so I might wake up one day and not hurt....

I agree it would seem to be bad for your back but I wake up much more rested from a hammock and an added benefit is my face isn't all swollen and puffy in the AM like when lying flat on the ground. It also reduces "bed-head"

Since back surgery in 2002, I've never slept better than in my hammock. I believe it is due to the lack of pressure points on my hips that makes the difference. I sleep in it most of the time. I took it with me to Colorado when on vacation and staying at motels. A little ingenuity pays off with a good nights sleep!!

In 2002 I broke a couple vertebra & a bunch of ribs. It was in early 05 (I think) when I tried out my first hammock.
I was soon using it instead of a bed... & still do! I later found that one of the thicker, insulated air mats makes it near perfect for my back!!!
I think because the hammock's fabric molds to your body & gives full but flexible support is why it's so good for the back.
I too will something make and joy in it's making

I'm a young 'un, but even so I've already started to have some back problems (just aches and pains, nothing serious). Sleeping was always the downer part of going camping for me. I've only got one trip on the hammock, but I slept like a baby and woke up with much less back pain! I still had a little just from sleeping in the same position all night instead of waking up and rolling over.

Mine is much better on my back than sleeping on the ground and I always have some sort of back pain but I have to stretch and crack my lower back at some point in the night when sleeping in my hammock.

Definitely more comfortable for the back, neck, hips, knees and feet. It is such a relief to wake up feeling rested, without groaning with hurts all over. I have been sleeping full time in a hammock since I made my stand in April . Maybe four nights without it. Last Saturday I slept on the ground in a tent again, and have yet to get over it.
