    Finished my DIY UQ

Finally got some time between studying to finish my UQ. I made it match my TQ by adding a green racing stripe. I think it turned out very well. I used Catsplats UQ calculator, and some ideas posted on threads started by Xtrekker and gmcttr, I think. Probably others, too. Thanks to the many who have posted successes and failures on this great forum.
My UQ is dual differentially cut, with 10 inch darts sewn in each chamber. It is 1.1oz DWR black ripstop. I made 12 chambers to hold the down in place at the cost of some added weight. I'm no gram weenie. Finished dimensions are 48x60, and it weighs 21 oz. in the stuff sack with suspension, which also has a matching racing stripe. I used about 9 oz. of water resistant down I purchased from Downlinens. I chose to bind the edges with polyester ribbon instead of a folded hem.
It matches my TQ nicely, the racing stripe and the small draft tubes were made of some of the green 1.1 ripstop I had left over from that project. I also made a nice little camp pillow to match as well and stuffed that with 2oz of down. I may have to add some more down to the pillow because it compresses a bit too much.
Overall I am pleased. It is really warm, I used 2 inch baffle material from Dutch and get about 2.5 inches of loft under my butt. It should do me to 20 degrees I think. Now I just gotta get some more time to use my custom setup. This is why I love DIY. And Hammock Forums, for giving me the resources to create my own gear. Thanks for everything!!

The quilts look really good. Like how you carried the two tone theme to the stuff sack.

That is really nice. I love that you even put the racing stripe on the pillow and the stuff sack. I'm working on an UQ that's similar now. I also used CatSplats calculator. I'm waiting for some more baffling material and down, which I should have tomorrow or Thursday. I added some red stripes on the edges of mine to give it a little flare as well. Great work!

Thanks for compliments guys! DIY is so addictive. I couldn't have done any of this less than a year ago, which is pretty amazing, IMO. I definitely couldn't have done it without the help of this forum!

Thanks! Your working with argon right? How does that sew compared to 1.1 ripstop? Adding the little flare here and there makes the work so worth it in the end, doesn't it? Can't wait to see the finished product.
