Well, I've been lurking around here long enough so I figured I'd say howdy. Sad to say I've only spent one night in my hammock last July in my folks' back yard in LaFayette, GA. I bought the HH as an alternative to a new tent for an overnighter me and my buddy were planning but he backed out. So... now, a year later, still no experience.
I'm not an experienced hiker or even camper (other than car camping). I've been on one or two 6-8 mile one-way overnighters back when I lived in NC and a looong, strange, unprepared drift down the Ogeechee back in college for two nights. Loved it, just don't trust my experience enough to do it solo.
Thanks for the wealth of info and great vibes you guys provide. Much refreshing to hang out on a forum that isn't blasting someone for their opinion at every corner. Look forward to working my way up to an underquilt and tarp soon.
