    MacCat Tarps

With my next purchase for my setup I'm looking to purchase the MacCat Deluxe. Reason for purchasing this is my friend has the tarp already and it looks like it does the job well and I like the size. Any self reviews of MacCat tarps before I shell out the $121 for the seemed sealed Deluxe? Are there any different styles that would go better with an ENO DN rather than a hexagonal tarp?

That was my first set up, and I loved it. I still frequently use my Deluxe, great tarp. I've passed my DN to my wife, as I moved up to an 11' DIY - I'm 6'2" and it's much more comfortable for me.

I don't have experience with these, but other tarps folks rave about and are worth looking into are Superfly (little more $$, but has doors for winter & rain) and the Tad Pole (slightly smaller, but less $$).

Again, love my Deluxe. Good luck and enjoy your purchase!

Go for Warbonnet, you'll get it about 5x quicker.

If you do a search here for OES, you'll see there have been issues. Guy makes a great tarp, but so do a lot of others that you can find here. If you really want a Maccat, I'd make contact with OES (Brian) first and then place the order.

I love my maccat deluxe. I've weathered some pretty crazy storms, one which included golf ball sized hail!

However, I have the mamajamba from Warbonnet now. At less than an ounce heavier, a few dollars cheaper, you get a wider tarp with more coverage.

Their both great tarps, but I think the mamajamba is a better deal.

My first and only tarp purchase thus far is the MacCat Deluxe. I may at some point purchase a tarp with doors for better protection of my down quilts. I will say that OES was great to work with. Brian answered all of email questions promptly, and my tarp arrived in about a week after placing my order. I have no complaints with OES or Brian. Good luck in your research and purchase.

Was there any varying difficulty in setup? Or were they both similar?

The MacCat Deluxe and ENO DN is a match made in heaven. Add one 2QZQ Grizzbeak and you are good for just about anything mothernature can throw at you.

It looks like I'm actually going to man up and purchase the Superfly so me and my hiking partners will all have different gear. If anybody has any recommendations for the Superfly let me know!

The SuperFly is a great tarp. No worries getting that one.
