I am curious what the "polyester rope" is...why are they not using amsteel?

Also, I saw this company advertising on CL in November and they wouldn't answer any of my emails. I was trying to buy one of their hammocks but couldn't get a response. Specifically, I was curious about rope diameter, bury length, rope composition (now answered), biner make and rating, and strap width. I would still like answers to these questions if anybody knows.

I would probably buy one if I can pick up in person and not pay s/h. We'll see...I've sent them another message.

Not trying to bash the company, just wanted to share my experience with fellow HF'ers because I know customer service is especially of concern for cottage vendors.

You don't get Amsteel and light weight with a $30 hammock.

    True dat, homefry!

If I bought one, I would probably be swapping for amsteel...but I have a spool so it is a cost I have already "absorbed".

Another weigh to look at is. 15 dollars buys you over 1/2 pound less weight penalty.

You could then say, forget the proper length, quality and workmanship, but you won't

    Thanks Meck for the correction.

You cannot often negate that much weight penalty, by throwing so little money at it.

    I will stand by that

Did a little googling and found out that Xada Gear is owned by Adams Innovations LLC. Adams Innovations LLC was created by a college student in 2012 when he claimed to invent the whoopie sling suspension system and was given a $20,000 grant to share with another recipient. He imports the hammocks and adds the cheap whoopies. Here is an article on it.

Interesting! So THAT is where the whoopie sling came from!
