    Question on doors and tarps

Been thinking about doing a diy tarp with the option of attaching doors. Watched a few videos on how different places do it but I was thinking id use velcro to attach. Is there any diy's that cover that?

I'm not overly concerned with weight, but wouldn't think would add the much weight anyways. Thanks

I've seen posts about using velcro to seal the two doors together but I don't remember seeing someone attach them to the tarp that way. Someone probably has though.

I'm not a big fan of velcro on my hammock gear. I do like the Grizz Beaks and individual door attached to the tarp tie outs. here's a couple I made...

Why not just make a tarp shaped so that the ends can be closed in instead of removeable doors? Then make another with a different geometry so you have options.

I always end up getting crap stuck in the Velcro and it won't seal up anymore

For me, Velcro has it's places, but not many of them. I bought my first "door tarp" a little over a year ago. I wasn't sure I would like it, but now I'm hooked! The doors are part of the tarp and fold easily and neatly out of the way when you want ventilation. If a blowing rain comes up,the doors can be deployed, literally in seconds.

After looking at the cost, makes more sense to just make integrated doors. But further looking tells me the superflu is the way to go. To diy a tarp would cost me almost 100$ or I just spend the $130 and it's done.... If only they had it in black id buy one today!!!!!

Message Brandon at WB and see what he can do. Most of these guys are more than willing to accommodate when possible.
    Never hurts to ask...

Hennessy's Monsoon and Typhoon tarps use velcro strips to attach the main edges of door to tarp, as well as a small ring/mittenhook setup at the top and ring/toggle setup at the bottom to secure it
