Adjustable Ridgeline Question

Hammock noob with a question about ridgelines...

I made an adjustable ridgeline out of Amsteel blue, using the 83% rule on a 9.5' hammock. My question for you experienced hangers is, how much adjustment am I likely to need? Currently, I have the remainder of 25' of length just hanging beyond the buried section of the Amsteel, but I'd like to trim that down to a more "reasonable" length to eliminate the excess. Having never done this myself, I'm wondering how much adjustment do I really need?

I'd be surprised if you would need much more than a 10% adjustment. Calculate the additional 10% then double that and you should be good. You need to double it b/c a 2" adjustment on a whoopie is only a 1" change in OAL.

Seriously, I have 6" of adjustment in my 11" hammocks.
As Red warmed, cut it to twice the length of the adjustment length that you're shooting for.
