I found that these
work well with my Warbonnet superfly for easy door closure. It lets me clip a looped shock cord or line to a ring no problem and you can get a big box of them cheap at an office supply store.

Hmm. Hadn't considered this. Do you think the corners on the metal will cause any issues with your tarp material?
If you ain't havin' fun, you're doin' it wrong
I got these ID bade clips at Walmart. I use them to hang my HF and "2000 The Banana Republic of Miami" flags.
The clips are short and aren't very strong but I like your idea. Also good for attaching light "tacky lights."
I attach the plastic snap loop side to each of the 4 door corners and then I tie a small loop with z line using a double fisherman's knot to each of the 4 corners of each of the tarp (The hard plastic triangle). Then i feed a line of shock chord through the small zline loop with a cord lock attached to the shock cord for door adjustment. Then I tie a figure 8 on a bite on the end of the shock cord to form a loop that the metal clip end of the ID holder clips to.
What about the metal rusting ...?
they would be good to use on your ridge line to hand gear!
