    Sorta finished my UQ

Almost finished climashield 5.0 UQ. Did not have enough green shock cord or cord locks (ordered) so had to finish up with orange and tied knots for now. As you can see am ready to check it out tonight. Temps in the low 50's. Stuffing the climashield in the panels I made for down I could not afford was easy and I think it looks pretty good for a first timer. As long as it is warm i'm happy.

    Looks great!
Hoping it works as good as it looks.

I've found that the trick to synthetic is to get it as close to the body as possible.
When it is snug up against you under the hammock, you can feel the warmth.

I'm wondering how the climashield is staying in place inside the baffle and if it is flush against the inside fabric or if there are gaps. That would be my concern.

For 50 degrees, I figure you'll be fine but at lower temps, if there are gaps, you will notice them I think.

    Best of luck !

The baffles are 7" so I cut the climashield 9" so its sorta overstuffed. Running my hand down the baffles it really feels very even and fluffy. The test will be sleeping in low temps. We are supposed to get lower temps in a few days will try it then and give updates.

Awesome. It does look like down. Just finished mine yesterday and took it to work today to show off. 7" baffles, that sounds warm! Good luck tonight.

Just curious: why did you baffle the climashield? I thought one of the major attractions to climashield from a DIY perspective was that you can just sew it right in between 2 layers of fabric

Originally I sewed the panels to stuff with down then decided to go with climashield and did not want to remove all the stitches so i cut the climashield oversized to fill up the panels. I am going to make another for my spouse and am going to use one piece climashield. Slept out last night got down to 42 degrees and was very warm. This is so much more comfortable than pads. Am happy but wish I had done it differently.

Your first one will give you a better idea of how you can improve the rest of the UQ's you make. It is addictive.
Everyone ought to believe in something....I believe I'll go set up the hammock!
