    Dutch clip question/set up

I am trying to use my dutch clips like the handy dandy instructions but they don't want to snug up on the side of the tree ( where the pressure is on the strap not the clip ). I set it to the side and it stays loose-even lets the strap slide down a little on the tree. Once under load the strap turns so the clip is more to the center and taking a lot more pressure or pull. Hoping some one can give me a quick tip on what I'm doing wrong. At 230lbs I'm a little worried about putting to much strain on the clips.

Nah, you're nor even close to an overload.
If you prepare for failure you will probably succeed.

Thanks Black Foot. Not sure- but I think I am close to doing it right. I'll just keep messing around with it.

I use some for the first time yesterday, I fed the strap into buckle and slid it down my hand until it rested against the tree. I did this without weight on the strap. Maybe that is the cause?

??? Not sure of terms. This thread was about the Dutch Clips, which are used to hook the tree straps together around the tree. There are the original aluminum by Dutch and also the new TI by Dutch. They work the same.
The Dutch Buckles go on the tree straps and are what the whoopie slings or the UCR go around. The Whoopie or the UCR, attach the hammock to the tree straps and are also adjustable. The Dutch Buckles are also adjustable up and down the tree straps. If you look at the buckle, you will notice one of the slots is cut wider than the other. Strap goes thru that first, around the inner part and through the other narrow cut, then back through the wider slot, locking the buckle to the tree strap.
You then take the whoopie/UCR loop, and put that over the Dutch Buckle. Make sure the whoopie/UCR is on the tree strap, the Dutch Buckle is like a stopper, holding the whoopie/ucr in place on the strap.
The Dutch Clips, once snug up around the tree, don't adjust or anything.
