What about this silly thing called Neat Sheet? Anyone familiar with it? what about cutting it to size and attaching ala UQ?

Or if using a blackbird, would the sheet (or other material) just fit into that pocket area below?
Yep, I've made a couple of UQ's from neat sheets. For a gathered end hammock I put a channel in the ends with shock cord to close it up, and put tabs on the corners with more shock cord to pull it up to the hammock. For a bridge hammock I put the channels on the sides.

Seem to do just what you said, cut the wind and coolness of the SUMMER night air. Below 65 F or so I'd be looking for something more though.
