    Insulated hammock

Who besides insulhammock is selling insulated hammocks. All I want is a full length 20 degree quilt sewn to a spear style hammock. I have a WL top quilt and do not have a need for the pod style insulhammock. It seem this should be the logical progression of camping hammocks.

    Thanks

You want the stars and the moon with that?

Actually, I'm glad you (and others) are interested in this, and as the poster of the first WTB, you deserve prime consideration. I hope you get responses with more information than I'm providing. I'm working on insulated hammocks, but it will be quite a while (if ever) before I have enough to sell. Nieces and nephews come first. Nevertheless, you seem to "grasp the azure", as Confucius said, and if I were selling insulated hammocks, you'd be the kind of customer I'd be looking for (only richer).

Thanks David, I was afraid that this might not be available just yet. I hope to take up sewing sometime soon. Perhaps one day I will have the skills and know how to pull something like this off. If you are ever in the situation where you find yourself so inclined, I would love to send you my old spear hammock along with $$$ to outfit me. I have a date with the John Muir Trail in June and I really was hoping to have an insulated hammock by then. I can tell that this is where most serious camping hammocks are headed. I just might have to wait. Marty over at WL seams to feel that the insulhammock is the way one would need to do it.

Cali is selling an insulated hammock. I don't think its a 20F but it would give you a lead on who sells attached UQs

I saw this the other day, and it seems like what you are talking about.
    Good luck to you!

I have looked at this one as well. I don't think they are up and running quite yet though. It looks like Adam at HG is gonna give it a go. I'm going to send him my hammock and he is going to attach his UQ to it for me. I will report back when the project is done. B

Correct, I'm not quite there, but will have a dozen 40° hammocks for sale on the site by the end of the week! I'll start on the same number of 20° next week, just in time for spring! Despite some serious effort to get some help assembling these, I'm still building these largely all myself.

I'm sure HG can do a fine job stitching one of their excellent quilts to a hammock, without much risk. However, getting it dialed in to fit and conform around YOUR body to match YOUR sleep style, IMHO is a tall order, especially if you aren't in the shop with them to take measurements from. Plus, you loose any ability to vent and putting holes (stitches) into the hammock body is never a good idea if you're looking for longevity.

But, you can always rip out the seams and remove the quilt if/when the hammock rips, and you still have a great HG quilt that will last!

    Insulated hammock

What about Madtree in Finland? www.madtree.fi/products/tarseer.html

I don't have this one but I do have the non-insulated version called the Core.
