    hangin in the basement

so the wind kicked up last night and it was still a little cold to be hangin in the orchard like we had planned so lucky for us we have a drop ceiling in the basement and plenty of braces up there to wrap the straps around and if you don't have enough strap room bring in the home made hammock stand. so here's the whole family six people in five DIY hammocks complete with woopies. after all the family that hangs together stays together

the whole setup. (dang ole sun came in the window and woke us up)

DIY from someone on here. I don't really know much about what I bought, but I'm sure it's real nice. I'm gonna look, dissect and learn from this one.

so the big double is a DL crinkle tafette gathered end with 1/8" woopies and straps with toggles. folks we have found the weight limit for this system!!!!! with four adults snugglin inside the weight was just above 700 lbs!!! held great until my mom started rockin us and the strap snaped where the woopie goes around the knot

Hence, the occasional mention of dynamic loading. Thanks for the info.

I'm not surprised at the failure point. I take it you were using a marlin spike hitch and toggle. I'm curious...what was the rated minimum breaking strength of the webbing?

I've got the basement but no drop ceiling. Next move will be bolting hang points into the wall studs.
