Reporting to you from my first hang!

Got my WBBBXLC 2 days ago. Yesterday was spent figuring out how to pack it in a protected manner. Motorcycle camping can be hard on gear. Couple of stuff sacks from REI and we're all sorted out.

Picked up a $99 hammock stand at Home Depot, too. First try this morning had me hanging on the crossbar on the floor. Another trip to HD for a couple 6 foot fence posts and we are sorted.

Ridgeline is taught, not tight.

Sides tied out nicely.

Exped inflatable sleeping matt slid between the layers perfectly.

Draped an El Cheapo Alps Mountaineering sleeping bag over me for this test in the garage. Temp in here is right around 45 degrees, bag is rated to 40, so working well.

Been in the hammock for about 30 minutes now...

Bit of pressure on my heels, so I need to move around a bit.
Neck is a bit strained due to my pillow, which I have folded double, so this is curable.
One of the dogs farted, so the mesh is working perfectly...



Extra steel posts/extensions and sundry mounting bits. Web suspension was super easy to work with and has so far not moved a mm with my 6 feet of height and 277 pounds hauling on it.

Its now been 45 minutes. Typing on a tablet is slow... lol

I'm actually getting cold, so need to wrap the sleeping bag over my torso soon. Neck strain is gone, heels more comfy as I've moved around a bit.

Stand is still rock solid. Next test... a nap... Ta ta for now...!

Your head should be at the shelf end.
From the one pic, the shelf is near the front end of the car.
So your head would be toward the front of the car and your feet pointed at the door and to the right.

The last pic makes me think your feet are pointed toward the car?

Looks like you solved the distance problem with the Home Depot stand!

It looks like you need more angle, closer to 30 degrees.

Your head should be at the shelf end.
From the one pic, the shelf is near the front end of the car.
So your head would be toward the front of the car and your feet pointed at the door and to the right.

The last pic makes me think your feet are pointed toward the car?

...but...

Prior to the interior posts, I had flipped the hammock end for end so I could actually look out the garage door while hanging. So while my feet were, in fact, down by the car as you observed, ... head and shelf were best buds the whole time.

I did notice that I slid down a bit. Slid back up almost as easily.

I need to...

1 - work with the suspension to have more slope, getting the footbox a bit higher to counter the slide.
2 - might drill a couple holes in the pipe to allow easy height selection during set up.
3 - test positioning of the sleeping pad

As I moved around, the whole stand flexed a bit, as to be expected, but remained solid and stable the whole time.

Looks good and comfy, but try scooting a little more on the diagonal to lay a little flatter. If you haven't already, lower the hang angle to ~30*. There's an aweful lot of stress in the suspension if you're hanging in it drawn that tight. Last advice, try ditching the pillow. At least for me, they fold my neck uncomfortably forward in a hammock. I like the hammock stand.

Given the stand is all steel tubing, resetting the angles are not possible.

I think they were suggesting that you loosen the hammock suspension to get to 30 degrees.

The hang angle is the angle of the suspension lines not the stand. If you lower your head end a few inches it will help with the sliding. Enjoy the nap.
