I made a silnylon straight edged tarp and hated it, always flapping and sagging (but thats because its always raining here). I would only use a straight edge on PU nylon, spinnaker, polyester or cuben.

Also depends on the tarp. My Siltarp3 10x12 is hemmed with a tape so the edge is not as stretchy as the silnylon itself.
Always had straight edge tarps and never had a problem with flapping. Sil stretches out and needs to be tightened but never had a problem with flapping.
