Guyline tensioners with Cuben fiber tarp?

I now have the materials necessary to put together guylines for my HamockGear CF tarp. With my nylon tarps I always include shockcord tensioners. But I think I read somewhere that, because CF does not stretch, tensioners are not necessary. Is that true? Or maybe it is still a good idea as a safety measure, in the event of someone tripping on the cord?

I do still use them on my cuben tarp. Some say they don't sag but I have had a wee little bit of sag in mine at times...conditions dependent. I like a tight tarp.

Guyline tensioners with Cuben fiber tarp?

You don't need them for the stretch that is inherent in nylon tarps. However, as you point out, there are other clumsy reasons for doing it.
Also, trees move when the wind blows. It's not enough to notice at the trunk of the tree where the tarp is attached, but it's there. If you are one that strings the tarp ridgeline piano wire tight, using dyneema cord, guess what is going to break first!
Of course you could do what I do and leave a bit of slack in the ridgeline.

I started using bungee cord tensioners on my tarp when I switched to using a combined hammock & tarp suspension. If I were to string my tarp up with an independent line, I would not use tensioners.

Shock cord tensioners for me. I would rather have the lines stretch with the gusts of wind rather than something breaking. Kind of like willow trees bend, but mighty oak trees break or uproot.

Ditto. 18" of 1/8" bungee tied into a loop with a double fisherman's knot makes a nice continuous loop about 6" long, which I larkshead between the guyline and the tarp. Works for me.
