    Whoopie hook from dutchware.

    Hi guys.
Just got the complete set in the post from Dutch, straps, whoopies, hooks and loops. Works great and just what I was expecting. Before I take it in to the woods anyone have any advice/experience to share?
Especially on how good of a rain break the hook is.

    Any thoughts much appriciated.

Haven't had rain yet (still making my tarp) but I imagine it matters how you angle the hook when you want a rain break. I'm not sure if there's any way to control that though.

Great rain break. If you are going to attach these to a continuous loop, attach them where the loop is a single strand. It is harder to get them in and out of the hook if you do it in the bury section.

As long as the whoopie hook is under your tarp, water will not gat past!

The more I play with it the more I like it. In good weather you can play all you want. But when it's pissing down you need to be quick and simple.
Tarp up, dutch clip around the tree on both sides, and only then you take your hammock from your drybag and "hook it up".
    Love it. Thanks Dutch.

Does it make a difference in the real world how the hook is oriented regarding water break? Or does it work regardless if it's flat, normal or upside down..

The last post reminded me of just how fortunate we are to have hangers making gear for hangers. Plus, we are buying from people we know. It's like living in an era gone by.

I was thinking the same thing today. I have recently dived in to a "proper" kit which means almost 100% cottage vendors. Matt from UKHammocks, Randy from dream hammocks, Dutch and others. At first you are a bit intimidated by the options and freedom of customisation. But honestly I walk in to a ordinary outdoor shop and everything looks mass produced and hmmm "plain".

Just talking to a person who is going to make something you will be using gives you a different connection with your kit. Not to mention the fact that the stuff is made by people who actually use and are passionate about it.

I actually know the names, faces and even voices (from YT) of the people who have spent time and effort making those items for me!

I agree. It has ruined my shopping experience. Haha! I can't even shop at stores for my gear any more. I do all my shopping online. It's the only place I can find the gear that 1) fits my weight limit requirements 2) performs the way I want it to. Thank goodness for the great people we have running these cottage gear sites. I love it!

If i have my whoopie sling attached directly to my continuous loop, will that provide a rain breaK? If not, will the extra slack from the whoopie that hangs down also be enough for a rain break? Or do I need to order new whoopies with hooks attached?
