    Down question

I am not sure which forum to post this in.

I have been checking out two products. One had 550 down and the other has 600 down.

Is there going to be a big noticeable difference?

i`m no expert on down by any means, but i would think a person would find it near impossible to tell a difference, even if you had the same fill weight of 550 & 600 in two identical products.
i believe i'd be making a choice on other factors... like shell materials, color, etc. ...tim
I too will something make and joy in it's making

I'm with slowhike on this. I don't think you will notice a difference. The only difference between that and the 750 or 800 fill down is the weight and life span.
Is that too much to ask? Girls with frikkin' lasers on their heads?

You can figure out the difference pretty easily. Take the dimension of the quilt to be made and multiply that by the loft, then divide by the rating of the down.

The equation can be simplified to:
    LengthxWidthxLoft*(1/rating1-1/rating2)

so for a quilt that is 78x48 with 1" loft
    78*48*1(1/550-1/600)=0.57oz
    with 1.5" loft:
    78*48*1.5(1/550-1/600)=0.85oz
    with 2" loft:
    78*48*2(1/550-1/600)=1.1oz
    with 2.5oz loft
    78*48*2.5(1/550-1/600)=1.4oz
