Another I'd like to try a hammock thread - Madison, WI

After hearing all the ravings of how well people sleep in hammocks, I think I'd like to give it a try. I've never been a great ground-dweller, despite MANY nights of experimenting with different gear. So I figure, why not give hammocks a try?

I was wondering if there is anyone in the Madison, Wisconsin area that has a hammock that they'd show me and let me hang in for a little bit. If possible, I'd like to try out a few different brands of hammocks before I go dropping some money on one.

Don't know if this matters or not (esp. for lightweight hammocks?) but I'm a bigger guy at 215lbs. As for myself, I'm not particularly looking for an ultralight hammock; I want the one that I'll be most comfortable in.

Thanks and I'll take any advice you guys can throw at me (what am I getting myself into?!).

    Welcome to the forum!
I'll let someone else recommend the 'most comfortable' hammock. I've already said it too many times this morning.

You shouldn't have any problems with weights. I'm 220ish and have no problems in 90% of the hammocks out there.

As far as the most comfortable hammock thing goes, I should have said that I want the hammock that I will be most comfortable it.

I understand that comfort is different for different people. Thats why I wanted to try a few out.

Shall I say it for you? You can't go wrong with a Blackbird. I say that, even though it is not the only hammock I own.

    I'm in New Glarus

(the only town I know with it's own brewery, a Jack Links meat plant and the largest sword factory in the US!). I've got a HH Expedition with 2Q/ZQ zipper mod #2 you're welcome to try.
