Smile Bandelier National Park solo backpacking trip- Video.

Little video of my solo backpacking trip in Bandelier National Park, New-Mexico. Priller was supposed to join me but had an ankle injury and therefore couldn't come. Nice little trip, if somewhat challenging (you'll see why). This was shot with my new camera and I'm still getting used to it, so I apologize for the somewhat low quality of footage. I obviously still have a lot to learn...
    Hope you enjoy anyways.
Did I mentioned it was WINDY?

I like the look of that canyon! The forest is in a bad way, take a long time for it to recover.. Nothing would make me feel better about sleeping on the ground. lol Ear plugs can come in handy sometimes. Thanks for the video, frenchycamp!

Well you gotta stay positive sometimes :-) and it worked I didn't have to sleep on the ground! Yeah I keep hearing about ear plugs, but I like to be aware of my surroundings when I'm out in nature, it's part of the fun, even if it's too loud to sleep. And if the tree is gonna snap I might want to have that 1/10th of a second head start!

You should, The beauty of this area is you can go from Desert canyons to 12000 ft mountain peaks and forests in an hour drive. Here is a winter trip in the santa fe forest https://www.hammockforums.net/forum/...ta+winter+trip

    Great video, frenchy!

Know what you mean about the wind. My son and I camped on the lip of Rowe Mesa once. As the mesa heated it would dump air -- then as it cooled suck it back up! We had to find a thick grove of trees to keep from blowing away. But the views and calm between times made it worthwhile.
