    I've made a huge mistake

I attached my whoopie hooks to the dogbones that are attached to the hammock rather than the UCRs. Now I need to either remove them every time I pack up or worry about tearing 1.1 ripstop nylon. Any better solutions?

Wrap them in tyvek envelopes and secure with rubber bands.

You can always undo the slices and redo. I tend to change my mind a few times before i am happy and i have not had any trouble undoing locked brummel splices.

Unfortunately I used Sgt. Rock's sewing method instead of locked brummels, and to be honest sewing is kind of a pain to undo or redo.

Well that is true... Though if it gives you some peace it may be worth it. lmoseley7's idea sounds good though. =)

Just cut them off and make them the way you want. Otherwise it will always bug you.

    Besides, splicing is fun.

I've kept my Dutch bling attached to my super fly and have not noticed any wear issues on it. I asked the same thing though when I first got it. I think you'll be OK.

Why are you worried about tearing the ripstop? I pack my tarps with all the hardware attached (tarp flyz, hooks, grip clips) and my hammocks are the same; I have never had any problem with tearing anything. But, if it is bugging you, cut them off and do it differently!

    Methinks you worry too much!

I always pack my hammock, quilts and netting with the Dutch whoopie hooks attached and it has never caused a problem.
