XL Snakes Skins too tight on BB XLC

Has anyone else run into this or found a solution (other than buying another brand of snakeskins)?

The knot that is formed by the ridgeline is so big that it binds inside the snakeskin and you lose about a foot or so of coverage from each side. I can make it work but I'm afraid I'm going to end up ripping the snakeskins with repeated use.

Is here a quick mod to the snakeskins or a way to reduce the size of ridgeline knot that anyone has tried?

Personally, I've found that snakeskins work a lot better on tarps than hammocks. I just stuff my hammock along with my quilts into the pack. If determined to use a snakeskin setup for your hammock, you might consider the Lazy Slug Tube.

Have you considered using a BlackBishop bag for the hammock? They also give you a place to stash a couple of items too.....http://www.tothewoods.net/HomemadeGe...ishopSack.html

XL Snakes Skins too tight on BB XLC

Thanks all. I guess I'm abandoning the skins for the hammock. I tried the shower scrubber trick and it actually works perfectly but it's very fragile. I'm guessing I'd be replacing the mesh each trip but since they're about $1 each it's not really a big deal. I like he bishop sack idea and I may try a DIY version of the lazy slug.

Pic of hammock and 20* incubator in shower sponge skin.
