Do you mean a fitted top, fleece or ripstop, or literally draped like a sheet on a clothesline? Got a photo? Sound too simple and good to be true... From tenting I think that any way to stop airflow is warmer, and I absolutely notice it on my face, to the point where I sleep head under the top quilt. I' d love to have a simple alternative.

I have several socks and I love them, but in SC there is so much humidity I get condensation. I find that using an UQP and draping a poncho liner over my ridgeline, works better. The poncho liner has tie outs that I tie together and use a biner to attach to a prussic on the ends of my ridgeline.

Socks or the poncho liner on the ridgeline work great to help you sleep late, as it keeps the light out in the morning.

I have the spindrift. I call it a sock. But it only works for the wbrr. Adds tremendous amount of heat. Also really nice to have doors and closure.

The only sock I would consider is the WB travel sock. Although it is a bit out dated.
Designed when 10' hammocks were in. Now that 11' ers are so popular the
WBTS is a bit on the short side for my liking. All the other socks that you pull over your head
and close like a stuff sack have little to no way to properly vent.

Same with the ever so popular 2QZQ breathable UQP.
Designed around the 10' WBBB it comes up a bit short for an 11' hammock with full winter UQ.

I gave up on socks. Went back to just my underquilt protector and a fleece top cover suspended from the ridgeline with prussicks and S-biners. Can be detached and draped right over me on the hammock sides.
Even use one made from 1.1 ripstop in the summer for mountain camping. The 3 AM katabatic air flow change gets pretty cold.
