    Omni heat quilt possibilities?

Found out that Colombia makes a bag liner and thought it could be to made an UQ. While it could be a fun to find out how it can do, the $70 price tag is a bit daunting.

I did not, but apparently you do. I'm sure there is a more helpful way of writing that. I have family members with the jackets and base layers and they like them. I've read people saying they have found the product useful.

Sorry for sounding so critical - I've just spent a lot of time reading reviews of them. Their warmth to weight claims are typically higher than down, which in itself is kind of sketchy. You should also beware of overpriced products, apparently it's quite common for them to be overpriced (which is the main reason for my skepticism).

If you do end up making one, we would all want to see your results, so please do post.

Edit: I think I saw one review that summarised them as being fancy vapor barriers. They might work really well as UQ protectors, but I remain skeptical of their UQ insulating properties.

Kind of a placebo... nah I can't even say that.
Omni-heat is a polyester reflective lining like an emergency blanket. Which is a tried and true survival necessity. I'd guess that it's just as effective as or less than an emergency blanket which people use as a layer built into an underquilt or just as an addition to an underquilt/pad for extra warmth and/or vapour barrier. I think the only 2 things the Omni-heat lining has over an emergency blanket would be better breathability and the "look how rich I am" factor.
I've got an Omni-heat jacket and a Omni-Cool running jacket too... I got them wholesale here in Taiwan. "Omni-heat" is nice sounding but the jacket lining is nothing special (It does remind me of sequins though haha). It's just like any other jacket i've got but looks prettier.

I think you could use it.... but a emergency blanket would be cheaper and it has more uses.
Omni-heat is just an upgraded emergency blanket with a fancy name. Trickery them marketers do to us huh?
I'd love to see an underquilt with the inner layer with this stuff. Would look good huh?

Isn't there also a slight difference in durability? I heard emerg. blankets break down quickly.
