    Question Strapworks - Dye bleedout?

Just got about 60' of the recommended 1" strapping from strapworks, in the green color. While working with it, I noticed that the dye is coming off on my hands. I have soaked it twice now, and dye is still bleeding out. Anyone else experience this? Maybe I shouldn't have gone with a colored strap.

I never had any bleed from either the polyester or seatbelt webbing, but I only ever ordered black. Which webbing type did you get, out of curiosity?

It was the code PEW1 Polyester Webbing 1" per the shipping order. I'm pretty sure I ordered what had been recommended here unless I really screwed up. It seems a lot like my stock Speer webbing on my Speer III. I haven't field tested it yet, however.

I haven't used Stapworks webbin, but I've never had color bleed out on any webbing I've used, be it polypro, polyester, or nylon.

No, it's not a 'screw up', I was just curious. The seatbelt webbing is just lighter weight.

I haven't looked in a while. They now offer a LOT of different colors and patterns on the 1" polyester.

If you have not done so already I would contact the company. I have always had good customer service from strapworks and they may have gotten a batch that was not properly dyed at the factory. If so they most likely either have gotten or will get more comments. Either way they may be able to let you know what the best course of action would be. Dye that is not set properly at the factory can bleed forever.
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.

If I recall correctly... Strapworks states that wether it is colorfast (won't bleed) or not. I checked and green 1" is not colorfast. The only solid color that is, is Balck.

You could try washing it with laundry soap several times.

Thanks, all. I am washing it as we speak. It's not that big a deal, just didn't want green dye on all of my gear! And as usual, I am busted for not reading the instructions from the manufacturer on the colorfastness of the straps. My ADD is showing again, lol!

Don't feel bad. I never would have thought webbing came with instructions. I just learned something new today too.

I have heard that cold salt water will set dye. Might be worth a try.
