    Reflective Blanket for an UQ?

I found an "All Weather Blanket" http://www.survivorgeek.com/products...7%7D-Hood.html.
It's windproof, waterproof, lightweight, flexible to -20°, much more durable than a mylar sheet, and has metal grommets for use with cord. Size: 60" x 84".
It looks like a more durable version of a space blanket. I was thinking of trying one of these out for use as an UQ or maybe even a TQ. Does anyone have any input on these things? I'm really just wondering if I should waste my money or not.

my only problem with down is the $$$$$. Even for a DIY project the down alone would cost ALMOST as much as buying whatever I intend to make.

As a most likely better alternative and still relatively inexpensive, look at Insultex underquilts. Go to the "Guides" pages at www.DIYGearSupply.com

One does not DIY to save money. At least, not after the first project.

Last month a friend had one of those heavier-duty space blankets along, and decided to try it out as a peapod with a sleeping bag and pad...it failed, and he spent part of the night in the car. To be fair, it got down to around 28*F that night, maybe if it'd been warmer he would've been okay.
