    patching a superfly

What is the best way to do this. Brandon said to just gule it on when seal the side pulls. Should I just use pure clear silicon, or should I dilute it in mineral spirits

I'd actually use the clear GE Silicone II undiluted. I've found it better to work with than the windshield sealant for this type of application, and I think it sets up better.

Cut your patch out, apply a glob to it and place it on the tarp. Use a credit card like object to spread it thin under the entire patch and wipe up the excess.

I snagged a hole in mine, got a piece of material from Brandon, used the same silicon that I seam sealed the pull outs with, coated a piece of the material, laid it over the hole, used a credit card to iron in on with, let it dry or cure a couple days, and no more problem. Period.
If you prepare for failure you will probably succeed.

Can't speak specifically to Brandon's pieces, but repairing my own sil nylon items, (pack covers, dry bags etc) I've found GE II to hold better than Mcnetts Silnet.

Make your patch circular so don't have any right-angle edges that might catch on something. GE II fan here.
