Northern Cali: Mendocino, Redwood NF, Trinity Alps

The wife and are are heading to Northern California from August 10th to the 16th.
Flying into San Fran, staying in Mendocino, and hanging a couple days in Redwood NF, and Caribou Lake in the Trinity Alps.
Every destination is about a 4hr drive from the previous, so I am hoping to get some advice to get the most out of this trip.
Everything is tentative. We haven't gotten the plane tickets or put down a deposit, so the plans are flexible at this point with exception to the wife wanting to see Redwood.

The itinerary is set. Fly into SanFran on Saturday. Hang in Golden Gate National Rec Area Saturday night. We have reservations at Haypress Campground. Sunday and Monday night we have a house in Mendocino to stay at. Tuesday and Wednesday we will head up to Redwood NP. Tuesday we'll grad our backcountry permits and stay Tuesday night in either Nickel Creek Cam or DeMartin Camp. Wednesday we'll stay at either Redwood Creek or 44 Camp. Does anyone have experience staying at any of these campgrounds? Due to camping only being allowed at designated spots I've got us set up fro ground dwelling if necessary.
