Greetings from a Norwegian Viking!

Hello, dear hammockers!

I have been reading through all the fantastic posts in this forum for way too long without being a member. I hope you will accept my apology for not having participated before now....

I am product developer/engineer/entrepreneur/outdoor enthusiast from Norway. For the past year I have been working with my colleagues at Amok Equipment to create a new kind of hammock which I hope eventually will find it's way into some of the hearts and nearby forest's of HF-members

I have always had a passion for outdoor sports, and since I came up with the idea of a camping hammock with bug netting and roof whilst on a small, humid and hot sail boat in the Caribbean in 2012 (at the time, I thought myself a genius...

to my defence, I have to add that hammock camping wasn't very well know in Norway at the time) I have really gotten into hammock camping and the truly unique feeling of calm and peace I get when swinging under the stars. After the initial letdown after a quick "camping hammock" search in google I realized: Hey... there is a market, and other people who had obviously seen the same potential - and seemed to love it! Since that my sewing machine has been very, very busy!

But enough about me! I want to thank everyone here at HF for the great topics and post - never have I seen a forum with so much genuine enthusiasm and DIY-spirit!

I think it's really cool that this forum crosses many continents, and can bring people together and share ideas and a sense of community.

I think if I were a Norwegian Viking, I would have to pick a suitable name.

I will bring some Norwegian meat balls, smoked samlmon and brown cheese to my first HF-event to bring to life any latent Norwegian viking genes in the US!
