Top Quilt length -- Chin or top of head?

I'm sure this has been asked, but my search-fu isn't working well. I'm getting ready to start a DIY top quilt, and wanted your advice on length.

Do you prefer to have your quilt come to your chin or to the top of your head?

    Here are some specifics:

    I'm 5'8"
I'll be using a drawstring footbox (I understand this means add 4")
This will be a 1" baffled 40-ish degree summer quilt.
I want to be able to "go to ground" in it if need be.

Considering 50-52" wide at the head, 40" wide at the foot, and 72" length (all sizes finished sizes)

    Any advice for me?

    --Matt

I prefer mine long enough to cover my head if I want it too

I would go for 'over the head' length too. I loved my down sleeping bag used as a top quilt for exactly that reason

My summer TQ (40F) never goes over my head, but my 20F and 0F TQs are long enough for complete coverage...

Mine' is a few inches longer than I am tall because I wanted to allow for my feet not being pointed to the sky and to be able to pull it up over my head when I wanted to.

To see how long/wide I needed my quilt I took a cuddle blanket and played couch potato for a few evenings being cognizant as to how it felt both width and length wise.

Great Idea. I took another (too long) quilt and tied it off at several lengths and settled on 47" length for a drawstring closure. I think that's about perfect for me.

Over-the-head. Way over the head. In your case, about a foot or so over the head. Then if it doesn't work for you you can sell it to me. I'm 6'4".

Draw string on both ends, snaps down both sides. Click on the Underwoobie link in my sig.

Theoretically, I could cinch the top as well as the bottom and pull it over my head and it should stay, although I've never tried it.
