    Uncomfortable: Noob Needs Help

Hello all. I’ve been lurking around the forums for some time now, but this is my first thread.

I have an ENO Singlenest that I mostly use for day hikes and the backyard, however I’m going on an overnight in a week and I need to use it for sleeping. When I sleep in my bag, I experience intense “hot spots” on my heels. I’ve tried 1 and 2 pairs of socks, but only my house slippers seem to alleviate my pain. I don’t really want to throw those in my pack so here are my questions.

Has anyone else experienced this? What can I do to remedy this problem?

I think I might have the foot-end a little too high, but I can’t be sure as 1, I’m a Noob, and 2, the “trees” I’m attaching too are only 6 ˝ feet high, so I have little room for adjustment unless I want to hit the ground. (I have a pool in my backyard so I am using the posts for my awning spaced about 12’ apart. I have no trees.) Any help would be much appreciated. Thank You

Do you also get pain behind your knees? You might have too much sag.

No not really, but how would I properly adjust the sag? I am also using the slap straps.

Don't worry, I already have a BB on order with Brandon, I justy need a temporary fix.

If you don't have a ridgeline attached to the hammock that sets your sag, just try hanging it less like a U and a little more in a straight line. Even 1-2" makes a pretty big difference in how it feels inside, so start small. Too tight and you'll get shoulder squeeze, and too loose will give you pain behind your knees and sometimes pressure-points on your heels.

You might also try putting a pillow under your knees...changing the angle your heels contact the hammock might reduce some of the pressure.

I figured that was the problem. It's hard to get the ends tight enough with the Slap Straps because of the pre-determined loops, but I'll ty that. The pillow is news to me but makes sence so I'll give that a try too.

Do you think it would be worth it to change the supension on a single nest?

    Thanks Jeff for your help.

Probably...depends on how much effort and money you want to put into it, though. Get polyester or polypropylene straps, or tree huggers and a 700+ lbs breaking strength line, and you can adjust it to whatever length you want to for each setup.

Once you get your sag set where you want it, adding a structural ridgeline will keep it that way forever, even with the slap straps.
