I whipped up a ridgeline organizer out of a scrap of ripstop the other night. The only measuring that went into this was laying my iPhone on the fabric and folding it to figure out how big the pockets needed to be.
I started with a piece of 1.9 ripstop probably 24 to 30" long and 18" wide.
I hemmed all four edges with a double roll hem, then folded it over and back folded both sides.
I sewed a channel in the top to put a hang-cord through (although I'm thinking I may just thread this onto my ridgeline) and then sewed dividers into each side so it would have four pockets total.
For reference, the pockets are just long enough for my iPhone or my glasses to drop into.
It's simple, but functional.

I have no idea why the preview image is upside down... If you click through for the full-size it's right side up.
