    Newbie Bugnet question

Can I just cut Ridgeline holes and trim the bottom to make an open bottom or add shock cord drawstring bottom to a Bugnet like this?

I don't have a sewing machine....figured for $15 shipped I can always use it in my backyard anyway.

    Reading lots of Bugnet threads.
    THANKS

I made a couple attempts at getting a similar net to work. Wasn't worth the trouble. At 84" long, it's too short to use as intended. Turning it on somewhat of a diagonal exposed the weak material to too much stress.

It's expensive but, if you don't/can't sew, you're best bet is to buy one from your choice of cottage vendor.

I've wondered the same thing and I think it would. If you don't get a bug tight seal around the bottom, I think a permethrin soak might be helpful.

    It's just not big enough.

One could get 7 yards of tulle at Wal-Mart (it's cheap), fold it over on itself length-wise, sew two seams with simple hand stiches like running or basting: http://www.ia470.com/wardrobe/stitches.html You'd need one needle and spool of thread. That would be the cheapest option that works with minimal DIY skill and an hour of work.

I've seen the Walmart Curtain panel instructional.
I can hand sew. Just seemed like a lot of length for hand stitch....maybe I should give that a shot.

I've got a friend with a machine and she always says she will sew things for me...but doesn't ever seem to get around to it

The problem I had with this design was that the bugs got in from the bottom. Im not sure how to solve this issue
